MedX Open Systems was founded by Jose Reque in 2005, in a small studio apartment in Hawaii. During the years leading up to its launch, he worked for and with physicians managing medical billing. With concrete experience and valuable industry insight, he eventually set up his own medical billing company and began servicing physicians, initially relying on a 3rd party billing software.

Clients were quick to come on board and the business grew rapidly. But over time, it became clear their needs weren’t being fully met and his ability to scale services was impaired by dated 3rd party solutions, inconsistent service, and poor response times by mainland providers. With no viable alternatives, in 2010 he decided to invest his own time, energy and resources into creating what he was certain would be a better way to run a practice — and the MedX platform was born, the state’s only open web-based EHR & PM.

MedX’s software was embraced because it was simple, intuitive, and answered real needs. We continue to listen and improve our platform with the help of our customers and are committed to delivering the best in EHR and practice management solutions to independent practices. Our mission is to help make the healthcare industry more transparent with intelligent software that’s available to as many practices as possible.
